The use of Botox is used in the management of muscle-generated dental diseases like Temporomandibular disorders- TMJ, bruxism, clenching, masseter hypertrophy and is used to treat functional or esthetic dental conditions like deep nasolabial folds and radial lip lines.


What you need to know

  • Botox is a trade name for botulinum toxin, which comes in the form of a purified protein.
  • It is injected into the appropriate facial muscles affecting and/or blocking the transmitters between the motor nerves that innervate those facial, neck, or shoulder muscles.
  • There is no loss of sensory feeling in the muscle.
  • In approximately 3 – 10 days after treatment, the skin starts to smooth out.
  • The effects of Botox last for approximately three to four months.
